  • Abstract
Low-carbon economy is a new type of economic development. Along with the economic development, the consumption of China´s fossil energy increased significantly. This has resulted in a rapid increase in greenhouse gas emissions and serious environmental pollution. Considering the current economic situation and energy consumption structure, this paper establishes an Asian Energy - Environment - Economy Computable evaluation model to assess the potential of creating low-carbon society in China. The results show that CO2 emissions will continue to increase due to the increasing demand for the fossil energy consumption, despite declining 7% of coal share in the primary energy use until 2020 in China; Settings CO2 penalties can effectively reduce the CO2 emissions.
