Abstract
We consider the design of spreading sequences for CDMA systems with linear multiuser detectors. The properties of optimum sequences are investigated. It is found that sequences with a low average interference parameter are at least near-optimal and that the SNR of the decorrelator and the SIR of the LMMSE detector are improved by these sequences by about 1-2 dB
