Abstract
COMNET III is a performance analysis tool for communications networks. It is used to model networks, their control algorithms and workload. COMNET III then simulates the operation of the network and provides measures of network performance. Students in data communications and networking courses can use COMNET III to model and simulate LANs, WANs and interconnections of various networks (Internets). Network simulations add a practical flavor to the course and enable students to observe the operation of an Internet comprising dissimilar networks and protocols.
