Abstract
It is hard to make an accurate and reliable prediction for landslide due to the complex engineering geological conditions, randomness of the engineering activities and the insufficient knowledge of the disaster mechanism. Slip surface of different landslide shows complex and diverse behavior during the process of evolution which is from disorder to order. However, any complex nonlinear phenomenon shows some common nature that is universality. Based on the universality in the evolution, cellular automatic model is established for the research of essential law of landslide formation. Combining with renormalization group method, criterion of stress square ratio for slope stability is obtained, and this criterion is verified by practical landslide evolution results.
