Abstract
In this paper we study a measurement-based model identification problem for constructing dynamic equivalent models of two-area radial power systems with intermediate voltage control by Static VAr Compensators (SVC).We consider two types of feedback mechanisms, namely, combined voltage and current feedback from the SVC bus, and supplementary current feedback from the transmission line. Given these system configurations, we first derive expressions for the aggregated equivalent reactance and machine inertias in each area, and then show how these parameters can be computed from the voltage and frequency measurements at three buses in the transfer path including the SVC bus.
