Abstract
In vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), routing schemes play a vital role in data dissemination. As data dissemination in a timely and efficient manner is critical for safety-related applications, in this paper we introduce a location based routing algorithm namely geographic routing, which significantly reduces the packet dropping probability and the total number of packets in the network compared to flooding-based routing protocols. A 3 times 3 km Manhattan grid has been utilised to assess the performance of our proposed routing scheme.
