Abstract
This paper presents a novel Wi-Fi antenna topology which is specifically designed for a commercial compact camera constituting of a fully metallic chassis. The antenna is located on the barrel of the camera to minimize cross talk due to noise sources and the effects of the user´s hand. By directing the far-field radiation pattern toward the front and upper directions, the effects of the user´s body can further be reduced. The antenna is fabricated using a Flexible Printed Circuit Board (FPCB) and measurement results are analyzed and compared with that of a conventional PIFA. This comparison shows that the proposed antenna provides 15% higher radiation efficiency and approximately 4 dB enhanced measured TIS.
