  • Abstract
    An artificial development approach aimed at development of electronic circuits has functional circuits as the end product. The article investigates if the iterative processing of the genome in a development process can take advantage of the information provided in the genome. The development process described is a rule-based system on a non-uniform cellular automata topology. The experiments presented investigate evolution of genomes for expressing functionality in the emerging phenotype. Two types of behaviour are targeted. First, static bit pattern expressed by the functional component of the cells. Second, sequential behaviour defined as a function that must exploit the ability to preserve intermediate result for the next computation.
