Abstract
The evolution in the sector of both fix and mobile telecommunication networks, together with the Internet, UMTS and broadband applications, require power supply systems, which are able to ensure a high reliability and continuity level, when installed within masonry structures and in shelters. A crucial element of any power supply system is its accumulator battery, which needs to include, at the same time, long life and low cost characteristics, within the perspective of increasingly competitive markets for TLC operators. Therefore, it became indispensable to design and develop a new set of accumulators, which not only ensure the above performances, but also minimize the costs of installation and its environmental impact, intended as the recyclability of materials used and conversion efficiency.
