Abstract
In this paper, a new technique for anti-personnel landmine detection is proposed. A high gain single microstrip antenna is used to detect the presence of a standard landmine buried in dry sand. A superstrate layer made of Al2O3 ceramic is used to increase the antenna gain and consequently increase the detection sensitivity. The change in the phase of the antenna´s reflection coefficient (S11) is used as an evident of the landmine existence. A phase difference of 106.42 degrees was observed using the proposed detection system. The system is analyzed using ANSYS HFSS.
