Abstract
In this work, we present a method of moments solution procedure to obtain induced currents on a section of a large conducting body due to a plane wave incidence without solving the whole problem. The solution procedure is based on the application of Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization procedure. The currents obtained on the selected portion of the structure are exact, in the sense that the same currents would be obtained by solving the complete problem. Further, this procedure is also useful to obtain the complete solution of the body. The new approach is simple, efficient, and can be easily applied to both antenna and scattering problems. Preliminary results are presented to validate the numerical procedure.
