Abstract
A novel intelligent control technique for control of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants is proposed. The controller design is accomplished by development of a tool that input the rules and membership functions and outputs the desirable actions. In addition, fuzzy rules have been devised to coordinate and control subsystems of a RO plant in a hierarchical sense. The interactions among various operations phases of the RO plant have also been investigated. The performance of the proposed FL controller is compared with a conventional controller. The comparison is carried out in view of safe and economical operational requirements of desalination processes to provide maximum availability, efficiency, manpower reduction, minimizing energy cost, and safeguarding of equipment.
