Abstract
RAKE receivers have been the implementation architecture used to exploit the multipath diversity in CDMA systems. The present authors revisit the exploitation of multipath diversity through MMSE-based receivers and demonstrate their capability to effectively act as RAKE combiners in mobile radio channels. Two MMSE receiver architectures are discussed, namely the LFSE (linear fractionally spaced equalizer) and FS-DFE (fractionally spaced decision feedback equalizer). Their performance is evaluated by simulation and the results indicate their superiority compared to the RAKE receiver
