Abstract
A measurement bench to perform Electrical Impedance Tomography on whole blood is presented; the aim of the work is to predict thrombus formation via induced hemostasis in order to test novel antithrombotic drugs. The bench is composed of a sensor having 30 pairs of electrodes posed on the sidewalls of a microchannel, a switch unit communicating with a personal computer for the selection of the pair of electrodes and an impedance meter. Post process of measured data is performed and an equivalent lumped circuit is derived; finally a parameter describing the hemostasis process is proposed.
