Abstract
Shank´s transformation is employed for the improvement of the convergence of the Fourier modal analysis of photonic crystals. In this paper, we have studied the plane-wave diffraction of a one-dimensional dielectric photonic crystal slab. Numerical results demonstrate a substantial improvement in the convergence rate of the diffraction efficiency so that a high accuracy is obtained by using only a few spatial harmonics
