Abstract
A preliminary design of a pulsed, high-power, high-voltage, video dummy load (VDL) was reported earlier by Brown and McCordic (see Proc. International Power Modulator Symposium Conf., Boca Raton, FL, USA, IEEE, p.125-8 (1996). In spring of 1997, the VDL was fabricated, installed, and tested in the ALCOR (ARPA-Lincoln C-band Observables Radar) transmitter. This paper presents modified VDL design requirements; an analysis tool for mixed-dielectric complex-geometry voltage stress problems; an example of bus redesign using this tool; and compares some of the analysis predictions with test data
