Abstract
The paper presents three approaches to multiband FIR filter design. One is analytical, using spline transition band functions, but allows no error weighting. The second allows error weighting but requires solving simultaneous equations which may be ill conditioned. The third looks at the signal characteristics and poses a peak constrained least squares approximation with no zero weighted transition band as best suiting practical design specifications
