Abstract
Color fringe is an artifact that mainly appears at the boundary of an object in an image, where colors change abruptly and luminance value is large. Thus, color fringe should be corrected in a color digital image. The luminance value as well as the gradient magnitude/direction is used to detect color fringed region. Then, chrominance values are corrected using those in the neighborhood along the direction, where color fringe occurs. Experimental result shows the effectiveness of the proposed color fringe detection and correction method.
