Abstract
The field distributions and far-field patterns of representative edge positions in millimetre wave phased antenna array have been calculated with the Finite Element Method (FEM). Simultaneously, the Decompose-Solve-Recompose (DSR) scheme is applied to synthesize the edge effects in different outer edge rings within two scale arrays scanning respectively. The scanning patterns and beamwidth in the typical planes demonstrate that the contributions of edge elements will be varied with the scale changing of antenna array. Therefore, edge effects should be considered in the pattern syntheses of small-scale and medium-scale antenna arrays.
