  • Abstract
It is essential for emergency services to have reliable, adaptable, scalable and high throughput communication network. As one can not trust on the existing infrastructure, mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) can be a good alternative to provide rescue operations. Since partitioning problem of MANETs due to node mobility degrades the aggregate throughput and is unreliable due to idle periods when rerouting algorithms run. In this paper, we will present a hybrid wireless ad hoc network structure consisting of MANET nodes along with static ad hoc network (SANET) regular M×N grid. By rapid deployment of additional nodes (as routers) at regular distances, this SANET grid structure provides desired connectivity and increasing the coverage area. Again, by using concurrent transmission protocol, like CTMAC, we further improve the throughput by increasing spatial reuse of the wireless channel.
