Abstract
The differentiated services (DiffServ) architecture is a scalable solution for supporting quality of service (QoS) in the Internet. The scheduling discipline plays a fundamental role in QoS capable network nodes. The weighted fair queuing (WFQ), has shown many advantages and widely spread in the last years. In this work we present a mechanism for a dynamic tuning of the WFQ scheduler weights based on measurements of the incoming traffic. The purpose is to obtain proportional maximum delay guarantees for the traffic classes. Our proposal is reliable and efficient in supporting a proportional relative model of QoS. Collected results show how a WFQ-based router can effectively guarantee the proportionality between the maximum delays of DiffServ classes at a given interface in realistic scenarios.
