Abstract
This paper describes the design and simulation of an Ultra Wide Band omni-directional antenna. The bandwidth of this antenna covers S, C, ext. C and X band frequencies. This bandwidth has been achieved by making a simple and easy modification in the design of a classical conical monopole (monocone) antenna. The achieved simulated results show stable radiation pattern over a specified field of view and impedance bandwidth for VSWR less than 2.0 is over the frequency band of 2-14 GHz. The bandwidth of monocone is computed, compared and optimized with respect to the radiation pattern of a thin monopole antenna.
