Abstract
In this paper, the degradation behavior of leachate of municipal solid waste in Harbin was studied by means of dumping simulation tests. It predicted that the periods for meeting the 2-level and 1-level discharge standards for chemical oxygen demand (CODcr) and biological oxygen demand (BOD5) were 10 and 11 years, respectively, in Harbin and Northeast region of China under cold climate. It is of significant importance for the reutilization of present municipal solid waste dumping sites in Northeast region of China.
