Abstract
Energy constraints are paramount for wireless communication in aerospace applications. We propose a wakeup receiver-aided communication terminal to reduce the average power consumption. The wakeup scheme is enabled by utilizing the low datarate wakeup message modulated using Minimum-energy coding On/Off Keying (Me-coding OOK). Analysis of energy consumption shows that proposed scheme can significantly improve power dissipation. Better sensitivity and longer communication range are predicted for wakeup receiver-aided wireless terminals. Moreover, it will effectively improve the network dynamics, which enables applications such as data collection and critical message broadcasting at low implementation cost.
