Abstract
This paper presents a close loop speed control of an induction motor fed by a Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation Z-source inverter (ZSI); the induction motor control is based on a close loop V/f control strategy. A PI controller was used to control the shoot-through time interval from the Z-source capacitor voltage error. The performance of speed control methods is verified by PSIM simulation of a 1.8 kW induction motor fed by a ZSI from 5Hz to 75Hz. The simulation results during start up, load disturbance and input voltage change are presented.
