Abstract
PRESHAK is a software tool that will relieve the application developers from designing and developing the communication layer for their parallel algorithms. It can be used to tailor a system-wide message-passing communication structure with high throughput and low delay across the application spectrum. In the paper the authors discuss the design philosophy and the key features of PRESHAK. At present it is implemented on C-DAC´s PARAM series of parallel processing machines supporting upto 64 transputers configurable via a programmable cross-bar switch
