Abstract
A kind of simple and tunable waveguide-to-microstrip transition is presented, the transition structure is a metal patch etched on a printed circuit board (PCB), and set in the wide wall of the waveguide. Two style of this kind of transitions are design and analyzed. One with metallized holes drilled at the edge of PCB to prevent the electromagnetic waves from leaking, the effects of the metallized holes of different sizes are analyzed; the other style of transition without metallized holes in the transition PCB, which is inset in the top wall of the waveguide.
