  • Abstract
    Electric locomotive traction load is the main source of harmonics in traction power system and harmonic content has become an important electrical performance index. This paper adopts the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation software to establish simulation model of the SS6B electric locomotive. We can determine the firing angle through the relationship between traction characteristics function and commutating circuit in the electric locomotive. Using the simulation software embedded programming language FORTRAN77, the control strategy can be realized. The validity and the reliability of this method can be verified by comparing simulation waveform with the statistical data.
