Abstract
The authors describe a transputer-based data acquisition and processing system that is used for real time accurate measurements of various quantities which characterize a three-phase system. The measurement system is based on PC-bus data processing boards. The measurements of the quantities of interest are determined starting from the harmonic voltage and current amplitudes and phases obtained by the discrete Fourier transform results. A system architecture is also proposed to detect and record the variations of the power quality. Data relating to the hardware and software structure, and descriptions of the system components and their interactions are presented. The design and operation of the system are reported along with the advantages of using transputers and a PC base system. An example showing the applications of this system is also reported
