Abstract
In this paper, pulse shaping and pre-equalization in both baseband and multicarrier systems for the data transmission over symmetrical twisted pair lines are analyzed. A worst case signal-to-noise ratio is used as a quality parameter for rating the performance of the various transmission techniques. Especially the pre-equalization results in a noticeable improvement of the transmission quality.
