Abstract
This paper presents a summary of a mobile satellite communication system based on general smallsat platforms (MSCGSP). The MSCGSP is a proposed system with communication and positioning functions, which will integrate satellites in GEO, MEO and LEO to provide 24-hour continuous mobile communication, positioning and navigation services for all of the domestic region of China (including the sea area) and most of the global region. A key concept of the MSCGSP is the utilization of general small satellite platforms (GSP)
