Abstract
The magnitude of the dissipation factor (tan δ) is an important characteristic of insulating oils. One of the factors that cause instability, namely, the colloid formation of liquid-phobic gel, has been investigated. The changes in tan δ of the oil in some 500-kV transformers have been studied over a two-year period. Recommendation for the evaluation of insulating liquids are made
