Abstract
A microcomputer ring designed to facilitate data acquisition in an automated manufacturing environment is described. Each node collects data coming from its own cluster of measuring instruments. The architecture of this ring is presented and both the structure of each node and the scheme of the diagnostic protocol, used to ensure identification of faulty nodes and reinsertion of repaired ones, are discussed
