  • Abstract
In this paper, a power flow tracing based method for usage and loss allocation incorporating Thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) has been proposed. Graph theory is the basis for usage allocation and Modified Kirchhoff matrix is used for this purpose. FACTS devices are used in the system for various purposes such as reactive power compensation, voltage profile improvement, improvement of transient stability, oscillation damping etc. Voltage source modeling of TCSC has been used for studying the effect on transmission usage and loss allocation. A sample 5-bus system is used to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed methodology. A comparison of line flows, generators´ contribution to line flows and cost allocation has been done.
