Abstract
Two applications of nanotechnoiogy to the AERx® drug delivery system are presented. Improved delivery performance is demonstrated using nanoscale nozzles. This gives higher emitted doses with reduced aerosol particle sizes, leading to deeper penetration of the drug into the lung periphery. Expanded capabilities are demonstrated using n a nanosuspensions. For example, drugs that are otherwise poorly soluble can be delivered to the lung periphery using nanosuspensions.
