Abstract
The accuracy of the distribution system state estimation is highly influenced by optimal meter allocation. This paper presents an innovative method for the placement optimization of power distribution system measurement. The goal of the method is to minimize the number of necessary measurements and required Remote Terminal Units, subject to the system observability requirements. The method based on particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to solve the problem of optimal placement of meters for distribution system The algorithm predicts the cost and location of meters for identification and collection of measurements from the system. The algorithm has been tested with IEEE and TNEB systems.
