Abstract
In this article, we intend to present experimental evaluation result on the use of SCTP as a transport for real-time service constrained to voice over IP (VoIP) over wireless LAN (WLAN). Also, from evaluation results gathered from our experiment, we describe on improvised adjustment on how SCTP can be implemented to guarantee its performance to that of UDP under real-time service scenario. Our evaluation results show that use of SCTP over UDP for VoIP performs approximately to that of UDP while preserving the functional advantages of SCTP over UDP which are fast retransmit, congestion control, transport-layer fragmentation, and multihoming.
