  • Abstract
The effects of different kinds of EPDM (ethylene-propylene diene monomer), fillers, silane, lead compounds, flame retardants and antioxidants on the physical-mechanical properties and electrical properties of EPDM insulation were studied and the main results are presented. The temperature index of the flame resistant EPDM insulation was evaluated as 115°C according to IEC Publication 216 and the cables with insulation of this kind meet all requirements specified in IEC Publication 502 and IEC Publication 332-3. In addition, a flame-resistant wire of this kind passed the VW-1 vertical flammability test for nuclear power station application
