Abstract
This paper reports on recent progress in developing Cs2LiYBr6:Ce (CLYB) scintillator. In the last year we have grown 1 inch diameter crystals. The crystals showed multiple cracks, which affected their scintillation properties. Larger samples (1 inch diameter and ~1 cm thick) showed energy resolution of 8% at 662 keV, while smaller samples showed the energy resolution better than 5%. Both large and small samples showed clear neutron peaks at high energies of 3.7 MeVee and 4 MeVee (electron equivalent), respectively. While the light yield and energy resolution seemed independent of the Ce concentration, the pulse shape discrimination was and better results were obtained for the lower Ce concentrations.
