Abstract
This paper presents an application result of the H∞ optimization method to the design of a power system stabiliser (PSS). The trade off relations between performance and robustness are used for the decision procedure of the weighting functions. As the purpose of the PSS is to increase system damping, weighting functions are determined to put weights on the robustness not only in the high frequency region but also in the low frequency range. The designed PSS is confirmed through experiments on a hardware simulator
