  • Abstract
Failure of electrical machine windings is caused by damage to the constituent insulating materials under electro-thermal and thermo-mechanical effects. Observation of results on machines and physical considerations tend to justify a Weibull-law type life duration model whose parameters are dependent on a simple functional criterion. The interpretation of the model and its parameter can lead to the improvement of existing models and open up new prospects as to the study of reliability in electrical machines
