Technical aspects in development of Marathi calculator using text to speech synthesizer

India is a multilingual country (22 official languages) and again the population of about 120 millions in which the category of visually challenged persons is about 15% in 6% of physically challenged persons. [National Sample survey by M.S.] In India these 15 % of VC peoples live at different locations and use the native language of that location for communication. It has therefore been a dream for VC people to have text to speech synthesizer that read in the native language using a keyboard of their choice. Maharashtra is one of the states which lead the population of India having Marathi as regional language. Physically challenged persons will be the beneficiary because of Assistive Technologies (AT). No longer do VC persons need to depend on others to access common information that others take for granted, such as newspapers, bank statements. This paper represents the methodology and the distinct stages in the development of Marathi talking calculator. Also the development of addition operator and its operating results are discussed. There are various techniques available for concatenation of text to speech. In this paper use of combination of database technique is used to minimize the database which is most prominent task of text to speech technology.
