Abstract
Due to the need of multiple monitoring applications in heavy haul railway transportation, applying the wireless sensor network into heavy haul combined trains is becoming a very popular topic. In this paper, an energy efficient transmission scheme based on cluster head election and power controlling (CHEPC) was proposed. In CHEPC, cluster head is periodically elected based on both energy and distance parameters. Some optimizations had also been done to make the proposed scheme more suitable for heavy haul railway transportation than the ex- isting energy efficient data transmission schemes. The simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme performances better than the classic Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchical (LEACH) scheme.
