Abstract
In this paper, a novel method of real-time free viewpoint image reconstruction by FPGA from multiple differently focused images is described in detail. Our previously proposed high-speed free viewpoint image reconstruction method is composed of deterministic parallel processes without conditional branches. Therefore, it is very effective for the method to be implemented to hardware such as FPGA. Actually, we construct free viewpoint image reconstruction systems based on Xilinx FPGA for further acceleration, and some experimental results by using synthetic images are shown.
