Abstract
A new control strategy for a Matrix Converter feeding an induction machine is presented. Simple discrete models of the machine and the converter are used to predict the behavior of torque and flux. The switching state that optimizes the value of a quality function is selected. The proposed strategy considers the discrete nature of control processors and power converters, presenting a different approach to achieve control. Results confirm a very good motor performance with an extremely simple and versatile control method.
