Abstract
This paper proposes a magnetic induction heating system for producing localized hyperthermia by means of interaction between ferromagnetic implants and magnetic fields. The system consists of four main subsystems: a variable frequency and amplitude sine wave generator, a power amplifier, a central power supply and an induction coil. The system delivers an alternating magnetic field with a selectable magnetic flux density peak value in the range of 1 mT to 22 mT and frequency varying from 600 Hz to 65 kHz. Characterization of each part of the system is performed and graphical results are shown. This system will be used to perform experimentation inducing hyperthermia in phantoms simulating several tissues which will be implanted with ferromagnetic materials and then exposed to alternating magnetic fields.
