  • Abstract
When a voltage dip takes place on the grid, many of the windturbines installed in old windfarms switch off, thus jeopardizing the stability of the system. In order to comply with new grid code regulations which demand, amongst other things, the uninterrupted functioning of wind turbines when a grid failure occurs, thousands of wind turbines should be retrofitted or replaced in Spain. With a view to solving this problem, GAMESA has developed a specific power electronic based solution, making unnecessary both wind turbine retrofit or replacement.
