  • Abstract
This paper presents a novel study of ultra wideband communication over household powerlines in a very high frequency band, from 50 MHz to 550 MHz. Adaptive modulation has been exploited on the Multiband-OFDM model for UWB over PLC system, the aim is to improve the system´s data transmission error rate. By means of simulations, we compare the performance of adaptive and non-adaptive modulation over the measured powerline channels, at a constant data rate of 200Mbps. Results show that, adaptive modulation can effectively improve the BER performance at reduced transmit power, over 5 dB gain on Es/N0 can be obtained over strong multi-path channels.
