  • Abstract
The uptake of TETRA within the oil & gas industry is increasing rapidly, driven by the availability of tailored radios designed for this market. In addition to the regulatory issues of working in potentially explosive environments, operators generally find themselves in challenging environments - from arctic ice fields to hot deserts, from large metal machinery to expansive geographies. Communications play a critical role in ensuring the safety of users and assets, the benefits are return on investment (ROI) driven and can deliver a dramatic improvement to the business performance and increase profitability and productivity. This paper is addressing the following subjects: 1) The stringent safety and operational requirements for radio communications in the oil industry 2) Examine how TETRA integrated solutions can enhance communications and drive improvements in safety, production reliability and efficiency 3) Explain the benefits of a full IP based TETRA architecture with embedded resilience, covering a broad scope of enterprise needs and requirements, enabling reliable business critical connectivity, easy expansion and integration with enterprise IP infrastructure and backbone network 4) How TETRA enables you to ´grow as you go´.
