Abstract
This paper describes a switching level simulation model for a static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) with EMTP, which can be useful for analyzing the dynamic interaction between the SSSC and the power transmission system. A detailed simulation model with EMTP was developed to verify the SSSC operation with control system, and the increasing capability of power transmission for a typical one-machine infinite-bus system. The simulation results of the developed model are compared with the experimental results from a scaled model of 2 kVA rating for evaluating the whole system operation.
